I was introduced to computers at a young age, back when an Intel 386 40MHz processor was cutting edge. I remember learning DOS commands to play space invaders and pitfall, all loaded from 5 ¼ floppy disks. Since then I was always interested in computers. During high school I took some computer programming classes in Pascal and later C++, in which I excelled. I knew then that I was going to pursue a career in the field. I went on to graduate from Buffalo State College with a degree in Computer Information Systems and have been working at I-Evolve for almost 5 years.

What got you interested in technology originally. Is there a story behind it?
When I was introduced to computers they were not common and very expensive. My dad had them at his office and when I’d get to come visit, I’d get to tinker with them. Computers were something totally new to me and I was intrigued from the start. A few years later, we had one in our home. I would take it apart and put it back together, learning how pieces fit together and what piece of hardware did what. Over the years as computers and technology evolved, I’ve always tried to keep up with it.

What is one of your hobbies outside what you do at I-Evolve?
I play pick-up street hockey every Saturday and I play softball in a bar league during the summer.

What has been a big change in technology you’ve seen since you started working?
Increasingly small, more powerful hardware has been a big change. I’m a fan of small devices like the Raspberry PI. It’s basically a server the size of a credit card powered by microUSB.

Can you share any success stories of something you’ve done for an I-Evolve customer that you’re particularly proud of the results?
One of our customer’s websites was hosted on an outdated legacy platform. The server needed to be shutdown for many reasons but mostly because of how outdated it was. The customer was put in a difficult position, since they had not budgeted the unexpected cost of upgrading the website to a new platform. I did some research and found that we could migrate the website to a modern server without having to change the website platform. This allowed the old server to be shut off and gave the customer time to plan and budget the future upgrade they required. The customer was very pleased with the results.
