Meet The Team : Emmanuel

I was introduced to computers at a young age, back when an Intel 386 40MHz processor was cutting edge. I remember learning DOS commands to play space invaders and pitfall, all loaded from 5 ¼ floppy disks. Since then I was always interested in computers. During high school I took some computer programming classes in Pascal and later C++, in which I excelled. I knew then that I was going to pursue a career in the field. I went on to graduate from Buffalo State College with a degree in Computer Information Systems and have been working at I-Evolve for almost 5 years.

What got you interested in technology originally. Is there a story behind it?
When I was introduced to computers they were not common and very expensive. My dad had them at his office and when I’d get to come visit, I’d get to tinker with them. Computers were something totally new to me and I was intrigued from the start. A few years later, we had one in our home. I would take it apart and put it back together, learning how pieces fit together and what piece of hardware did what. Over the years as computers and technology evolved, I’ve always tried to keep up with it.

What is one of your hobbies outside what you do at I-Evolve?
I play pick-up street hockey every Saturday and I play softball in a bar league during the summer.

What has been a big change in technology you’ve seen since you started working?
Increasingly small, more powerful hardware has been a big change. I’m a fan of small devices like the Raspberry PI. It’s basically a server the size of a credit card powered by microUSB.

Can you share any success stories of something you’ve done for an I-Evolve customer that you’re particularly proud of the results?
One of our customer’s websites was hosted on an outdated legacy platform. The server needed to be shutdown for many reasons but mostly because of how outdated it was. The customer was put in a difficult position, since they had not budgeted the unexpected cost of upgrading the website to a new platform. I did some research and found that we could migrate the website to a modern server without having to change the website platform. This allowed the old server to be shut off and gave the customer time to plan and budget the future upgrade they required. The customer was very pleased with the results.

Meet The Team : Tracey

Tech Knowledge & Experience?
Started off in 1988 as a data entry clerk, became the computer operator for an IBM System 36, from there the networking technology started. I am a hands on, self-taught person. Always willing to do and learn something new. I also enjoy meeting and working with different customers.

What got you interested in technology originally. Is there a story behind it?
When I was in ninth grade my Uncle asked me what I wanted to be when I graduated from high school. I said I always wanted to be a nurse; he suggested getting into computers. I thought it sounded interesting so I looked further into it.

What is one of your hobbies outside what you do at I-Evolve?
Outside of I-evolve, one of the main things I like to do with my time is spend it  with my family(especially my grandsons) and friends. I wasn’t sure about being a Grandmother; however it is one of greatest gift a person can be given.

What has been a big change in technology you’ve seen since you started working?
It has been constantly changing and growing within the past 10 years, going from Dos 3.1 to Windows 95 and now Windows 8.1. What amazes me is when I was in high school my computer teacher said that we would be able to shop from our computer and use our phones while driving in a car. Today we can do all that and more. The cloud is what I feel is the biggest improvement for our customers today.

Can you share any success stories of something you’ve done for an I-Evolve customer that you’re particularly proud of the results?
When I am able to fix an issue and the customer is grateful; that is when I feel good and I know I have done my job well.

Meet The Team : Josh

Josh attended SUNY Fredonia, graduated with a Systems Engineering Degree and a minor in Business Administration. Did an internship with Core101 my Junior year of college. Graduated and started working for the Buffalo Public School District. 8 months into the job I realized I needed to be challenged more. Applied for a position at I-Evolve and could not imagine being anywhere else.

What got you interested in technology originally? Is there a story behind it?

Ever since I was little I was fascinated by computers. I would always take them apart and put them back together. Once I got a little older I began to teach myself html, from there it switched to c++ and Visual Basic. I graduated college with all of my programming skills and ended up being run down from the past 4 years of programming. I decided to stick with networking and that brought me to where i am today.

What is one of your hobbies outside what you do at I-Evolve?

Relaxing is the best hobby to have. I can relax anywhere but my favorite places are on the beach, on the lake or in my tree stand in the woods.

What has been a big change in technology you’ve seen since you started working?

Cloud computing is evolving in the technology world. Everyone knows about it but not many understand it yet. It will be the future, if you’re interested I know a great company that offers the services.

Can you share any success stories of something you’ve done for an I-Evolve customer that you’re particularly proud of the results?

First Niagara Center free WiFi project with 50+ access points to light the entire arena up with wireless internet.

Meet The Team : Dave

Dave  joined the I-Evolve Team in August 2008. Coming on board as a Systems Engineer, Dave’s knowledge and skills quickly advanced him to the position of Senior System Engineer – Data Center lead. Dave currently holds the position of Operations Manager. His knowledge and certifications allow him to quickly fix customer’s issues. He holds certifications in  Citrix XenServer, Citrix XENDesktop, Cisco, Juniper and HP. These competencies have allowed to him to stay informed on the latest technologies to better serve our clients.

What got you interested in technology originally. Is there a story behind it?

Growing up I always enjoyed taking things apart to understand how they really worked. In high school our school offered a television production track. We would put on a TV show each morning for the school and I was able to learn various aspects of technology from television cameras to computer based editing systems. When I entered college as a media productions major, I found that it wasn’t the right fit for me so I decided to change to a business track and entered the school of management at UB for management information systems.

What is one of your hobbies outside what you do at I-Evolve?

Outside of I-Evolve, I enjoy being able to spend time with my wife and daughter. I’m also a huge baseball fan and play on a softball league. I am a die-hard Boston Red Sox fan too!

What has been a big change in technology you’ve seen since you started working?

The biggest change in technology is virtualization. It is truly amazing that we have been able to consolidate so much into so little and decrease our footprint.

Can you share any success stories of something you’ve done for an I-Evolve customer that you’re particularly proud of the results?

One success story that comes to mind was for a customer whose environment was very old and inefficient. Their environment was not allowing them to perform their jobs to their full capacity and we were able to transform their environment. With virtualization and moving them onto the cloud, their issues were resolved. They now have a stable environment which allows for much greater productivity.

Meet The Team : Nate

I have been working for I-Evolve for 3 years now and learned a great deal over that time. I started here with a strong background in end user support and system administration.  Over that time my technical knowledge base has expanded significantly allowing me to support a wide variety of technologies. These include Microsoft Servers, wireless technologies, networking, virtualization, disaster recovery and backup solutions.

What got you interested in technology originally. Is there a story behind it?
I was first interested in computers when I took a programming class in High School. I began tinkering around with everything related to them and took an interest in web design. I became the person everyone came to for help with computer problems. I have been have been doing it ever since.

What is one of your hobbies outside what you do at I-Evolve?
One of my hobbies is running. I am a member of two local running clubs and run in multiple races every year. I also enjoy traveling and find going for a long run around a new city is a great way to see things you normally wouldn’t.

What has been a big change in technology you’ve seen since you started working?
The advancement in mobile technologies has been incredible. The computing power, battery life, screen resolutions and applications have advanced so much in a short amount of time. There are so many things you can do from just your phone that I would not have imagined being possible even 5 years ago.

Can you share any success stories of something you’ve done for an I-Evolve customer that you’re particularly proud of the results?
I was able to setup a wireless network that covered the entire facility for a customer. With this network I was able to provide an assortment of wireless solutions to improve efficiency and add flexibility their manufacturing process.
